
$60 million in funding for replacement of flood-damaged dikes. New funding from the Province will allow the City of Merritt to rebuild two damaged dikes to higher standards to better protect against flooding in future. The funding is for $60 million to “relocate” (that is, purchase a portion of properties from riverside property owners to allow the dike to be further set back from the river) and rebuild two critical dikes, on both banks of the Coldwater River, that were damaged during the flooding of November 2021.
