Recycling rezoning. Businesses in the Railyard Mall and other concerned citizens made their views known at last evening’s public hearing to amend the mall’s zoning to include recycling. They brought up congestion & chaos in the parking lot (and thus safety issues); cleanliness and sanitary issues; and the potential for the mall to turn into an eyesore. They were all pretty much in agreement that the facility in that location would be a detriment to the downtown core, and that recycling should stay in an industrial area, not in one of Merritt’s premier retail areas.
