Letter to the editor: I am concerned… Why is the City of Merritt wanting to borrow money for the Fire Hall upgrade, only to educate people from outside our community? Once educated, these individuals will then go work outside the area, while the taxpayers of Merritt are left to front the costs for the upgrade. As far as I am concerned, the students should be paying for their own training and supplying their own accommodations. Generally, when we send our children to further their education, the student or the parent pays to educate the child, not the municipal tax payer…
